If your car has no factory screen, or one so old that nothing can be connected to it, SmartDash is the simplest route to CarPlay. It is a separate display you fit yourself in five minutes.

Who it is for

Unlike the module, SmartDash does not connect to the car's infotainment. It is powered from the 12 V socket and works completely on its own, so it fits any car, no matter the make, year or trim.

When a module is the better choice

If the car already has a proper central screen — iDrive, MMI, COMAND, MIB or similar — you are better off with a module for the factory screen: the interior stays completely factory and you keep control from the steering wheel buttons and the rotary knob.
